How To Gain Control Of Your Time and Get Stuff Done

Get Hold Of Your Time

“Being organised is being in control”

Getting organised and having some form of structure in your working day helps you to get a hold of your time and allows you to plan effectively which means you can get on with the important stuff you need to do to reach your goals.

Tips To Get You Organised:-

Remember your long term goals and why you do what you do. Remind yourself what’s important and focus on that, plus set priorities on a daily basis that will help you reach your goals

Make a ‘To Do’ List. Having a list of the daily tasks you need to do, as well as weekly and monthly tasks will help you focus, and reviewing them often will  help you keep them in mind when setting your daily tasks

Plan your time effectively. Do the most challenging task first and once it’s done and you tick it off your ‘to do’ list you’ll feel much better and have a sense of achievement knowing it’s done and you’re on your way to meeting your goals. Use the Pomodoro technique and work for 25 minutes then take a 5 minute break. Repeat this 4 times and then take a longer 15 minute break

Use a Calendar or Planner. Review your calendar daily,  making sure all your commitments are written down.

Using a planning tool such as Trello can help as it’s really easy to use. I love it and use it all the time but there are lots of others available. You can use it to keep track of any of your projects, your ‘To Do’ list or your social media content calendar and lots more.

Use a scheduling tool for your social media. This can help too meaning you can get it all organised and done in one go. Again there are lots of different software options such as Radaar, Buffer etc that can help you with scheduling. You can use Business Suite for free to schedule your Facebook and Instagram posts.

Manage your email and phone calls. Check your emails and messages at specific times of the day and make sure you turn off notifications when you’re working to stop any distractions.

More Tips...

Keep a clear desk. Clear the clutter from your workspace and only have the items you need for the task at hand. Organise your digital files too. Archive documents and material you rarely refer to. Delete duplicated items. I always think a tidy space is a tidy mind

Outsource your tasks. Don’t get bogged down and stressed with the daily mundane tasks or the tasks you don’t like to do. These take you away from the important money making tasks.

Stay organised. Have a daily process. Spend the first 10 minutes of the day getting your head clear on what you’ll be working on and start with your priority tasks for the day. At the end of your day spend 10 minutes planning and setting out your next day’s tasks remembering your priority tasks.

Following these tips should hopefully help you feel less overwhelmed and become more organised.
